Eileen Jenkins

Eileen Jenkins, age 85, passed away Wednesday, March 20^th, 2024, in her home surrounded by husband, Fred Jenkins; daughter, Kelli; granddaughter, Chelsea; son, Josh; grandson, Colten, and niece, Laurie. 

Eileen graduated from Beall High School in 1956 and was the May Queen of her graduating class.

Eileen is famous for her infinite love, symbolizing her commitment, devotion, and everlasting love for her husband of 64 years, family, and friends. She would always find time to sit on the porch, share cups of coffee and listen for hours. The world will be lacking the energy of her warmth, but her love continues to grow in all who had the opportunity to know her. 

Eileen lived a life well lived, traveling to forty-seven out of fifty states. Her passions included gardening, reading, bird watching, family get togethers, listening to classic country music, and loved holding babies. She was labeled the Finzel Rebellion when she refused to exit the bus the first day of school lodging a peaceful protest for attending Beall High School over Northern. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry & Martha Jane Burdock; brothers, James, Roger, and Harry (Budgie); and sister-in-law, Martha Ann Burdock.  She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 64 years Fred; daughter, Kelli; son, Josh and wife Tracy; grandchildren, Chelsea and Colten; brother, Jerry; sister, JoAnn; close friend and cousin, Maxine Bond, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

During her stay at UPMC, Dr. Kim, the ICU staff and high-level care nurses did an outstanding job caring for an angel. 

A viewing will be held at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD 21532 on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm.  

Funeral services at the funeral home will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 12 noon with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior from 11 am to noon

Interment will be at Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Route 40 West of Frostburg.
