Edward W. MacDonald, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore City.
Born on November 13, 1941, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Mary Ellen (Evans) MacDonald.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by sisters, Jean and Shirley.
Following graduation from Bruce High School, he joined the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a heavy equipment technician for the U.S. Army Reserves after he retired from the Regular Army.
Edward loved NASCAR and enjoyed rebuilding engines. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Noemi MacDonald; sons Thomas MacDonald and wife Tina and Edward MacDonald and significant other Samantha; daughters Ruth Nashan and wife Amy and Mary Carissimo and husband Frank; 7 grandchildren; brother John MacDonald and wife Connie; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat Bear.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 1-3 pm. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm with Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 1 pm.
