Edna Atkinson

Edna A. Atkinson, 95, better known as Mom-Mom, went to join her husband in Heaven on July 13, 2015.

Born on June 20, 1920, in Moscow, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Timney) Warnick.

In addition to her parents, Mom-Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick J. Atkinson, Sr., ten brothers and sisters and very special grandson, J. Timothy Atkinson.  She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Mom-Mom worked for a brief time at the Celanese Corporation before devoting her life to her family.  She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved bowling at Sherwood Bowling Lanes, where she was a league member until the time of her death.  She looked forward every year to her vacation at Deep Creek Lake with her friends, the “Lakers”.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frostburg, and was an auxiliary member of Knights of Columbus Frostburg Council 1442 and Faraday Post 24 Frostburg American Legion.

Surviving are children Jack Atkinson and wife Patsy of Middletown, MD, Patricia Thomas of Frostburg, Thomasine Weir and husband Allan of Frostburg, Edna Glass and husband John of Frostburg, Patrick Atkinson Jr. and Cindy of Frostburg, Peggy Blair and husband Matthew of Avilton, MD, Bill Atkinson and wife Wendy of Cumberland.  Mom-Mom is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Atkinson and wife Michelle, Julie Omenitsch and husband Jack, Cathy Ewing and husband Jack, Mandi Zimmerman and husband Monty, Beth Thomas, David Thomas and wife Tonya, Pam Hager and husband Chuck, Theresa Warn, Allana Weir, Erin Noel, Eric Slonaker, Evan Slonaker and wife Amy, Patrick Atkinson III, Rick Stevenson and wife Jackie, Nick Atkinson, Ali Eller and grandson-in-law, Bill Warn; 30 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
