Edgar Lee Hounshell Jr., 85, of Titusville, FL, formerly of Frostburg, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at his residence.

Born December 9, 1929, in Frostburg, to Edgar L. Hounshell Sr. and Edna (Weimer) Hounshell. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by, Laura and Bill Shannon whom he considered his second set of parents; two brothers, James and Dale Hounshell; and two sisters, Erma Lee and Edna Cessna.

In 1946, Edgar was selected in the All City Football team in Cumberland. He was employed with Potomac Edison in Hagerstown until joining the Marine’s, serving in the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to the states, Edgar worked part time at Acme while attending Frostburg State College, earning a Master’s Degree in Education. He started teaching at Oldtown High School for four years and transferred to Beall High School from which he retired. Edgar organized and coached the first Golfing Team for Beall and also coached Football. Edgar’s love of golf led him to join the Maplehurst Country Club where he was always helping with golfing events and fundraisers, he was a life member of Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg Elks #470, and the Moose Lodge #348.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Willa “Billie” (Shannon) Hounshell, a daughter, Jaynee Baird; a son, Michael Hounshell; a granddaughter, Shannon Shelton; two great grandchildren, Parker and Lyla Shelton; a sister Sonja Osborn; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Robert Lloyd.
