Delores Footen

Delores Rachel (Jefferies) Footen, 87, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

Born July 5, 1928 in Midland, MD. She was the daughter of Joseph Edward and Alice (Sanders) Jefferies. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, William Paul Footen; her brother, Elmer Jefferies and her son William Joseph Footen on September 11, 2015.

Delores survived many adversities in her lifetime. Her mother died when she was 2 and her father when she was 19. Her husband died when he was 39 and she was 32, leaving her with 3 young children. Her home was always open, she never knew who was sleeping on her couch or floor. If she had something and you needed it, it was yours. The Footen family accepted Delores as their own always considering her their sister. She loved her Mill Street neighbors, enjoyed her family, art, and visiting with family and friends. She worked at the state unemployment office and later enjoyed working as an assistant librarian working closely with students at Frostburg State University where she worked from 1969-1993.

She is survived by her children Kathy Footen Winebrenner and Robert Footen both of Frostburg; grandchildren Tammy Winebrenner- Bittinger and husband Rodney of Barton, Kerri Anne Footen Bohrer of Cumberland; great grandchildren, Joshua and Daniel of Barton, Carlie, Javas, Addisen of Cumberland; sister-in-law, Sister Maris Stella (Kathryn Footen) of New York; brother-in-law, Charles J. Colgan Sr. of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Emma Mae Crowe Walker and family.

She was a kind and loving person who took great joy in her large family and numerous friends. Memories of her will warm our hearts forever.
