David Weber

David J. “Beard” Weber, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, due to injuries from a fall in his home.

Born on April 30, 1955, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Patricia Alice McAteer-Taylor and Harold Joseph Weber.

David graduated from Bishop Walsh High School in 1974 and was retired from ATK. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was an avid Notre Dame fan.  He belonged to the Frostburg K of C, the Cumberland Sportsman Club and Outdoor Club.  David was a strong supporter of the FOP and enjoyed golfing and gardening, especially growing tomatoes.

Above all, he loved his family.

Surviving are his wife and friend Kathy Weber and their son, Brian Ritchey and wife Tanya; grandchildren Cross, Chance and Rain Ritchey; brother Jason Taylor and his children Rylee Patricia Taylor and Erin Elaine Taylor; brother Ed McAteer and wife Sally, niece Mandy Schall and husband Josh and their children, Kylie and Ryan and nephew Eddie McAteer and wife Stephanie; brother Robert McAteer and wife Rosalie and their children Denise Stevens and husband Scott,  Bobby, Shane, Sean and Patricia McAteer; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Mark Housel and Greg “Churchey”

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Monday, August 19, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at 9:30 am, with Father Eric Gauchat OFM Cap serving as officiant.

Serving as pallbearers are Cross and Chance Ritchey, Josh Schall, Eddie McAteer, Mark Housel and Greg Church. Honorary pallbearers are Shane, Sean and Bobby McAteer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations, in David’s name, be made to the Ali Ghan Shrine Transportation Fund, PO Box 1416, Cumberland, MD 21502.
