David Morton
69, of Frostburg, MD, passed peacefully at his residence on Friday, August 22, 2014.
Born January 21, 1945, in London, England, he was the son of the late Hubert Carson Morton and Constance Daisy (Wells) Morton.
Dr. Morton was a Professor Emeritus and former department chair of the Biology Department at Frostburg State University as well as a member of the Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society. He was also very active in his family members’ lives.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beverly Gail Morton; his son Sean David Carson Morton and daughter-in-law Amy Derezinski Morton, of Frostburg, MD; his granddaughters Catherine Elizabeth Morton, Gwendolyn Elise Morton, Emma Isabel Morton, and Sarah Jane Morton, of Frostburg, MD; his sister Joy Elizabeth Green of Mt. Joy, PA; his brother Richard Carson Morton of Nashville, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD. Friends, colleagues and family are encouraged to share specific stories they might have about David. Please feel free to write these stories down and read them if you wish.
David was cremated in accordance with his wishes. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Foundation for the Blind.
