Creade V. Brodie Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 87. His loss is deeply felt by those who knew him, but his remarkable legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate to share his journey.
Born on August 2, 1937, in Frostburg, Maryland, Creade was known throughout his life for his unwavering commitment to family, his tireless work ethic, and his encouraging devotion. He was the backbone of his family, a man of integrity and strong values, who always led by example. His life was a testament to resilience, commitment and endurance, and he worked tirelessly to provide a life full of opportunity for those around him.
Creade was a skilled manager and leader. At an early age he found satisfaction is doing purposeful work well. He enjoyed various jobs in mining, manufacturing, construction and local government services. Creade retired in 2012 after 30 years with Allegany County, where he served as the Superintendent of Utilities. He took great pride in his work and was respected in his community for his honesty, dedication, and commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.
Creade was a devoted fan of the Beall High Mountaineers and Mountain Ridge Miners. He was the second biggest fan in the stands for his children and grandchildren when they competed in sports. Only his wife Maxine, was a bigger fan. Creade was very proud of his service in the United States Army where he deployed to South Korea.
Above all, Creade was a loving patriarch. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Maxine Robertson Brodie; his mom and dad, Hazel Atkinson Brodie and Andrew Strange Brodie Jr.; and his sisters, Clara Brown Brodie and Christine Brodie Thrasher. Creade is survived by his children Shon P. Brodie and wife Theresa Moure Brodie; Creade V. Brodie Jr. and wife Catrina Whitaker Brodie; Tonna Brodie Ferree and husband John M. Ferree Jr.; Krista Brodie Phillips and husband J.D. Phillips; his 12 grandchildren, Creade III, Shonna, Corrie, Braxten, Shyler, Andy, Shane, Seth, Hannah, Caleb, Austin, and Leah; 10 great grandchildren and countless intimate friends.
The family extends gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the caregivers of Egle Nursing Home of Lonaconing, MD. Their tender attention during Creade's last months provided great comfort to the family.
Creade will be missed deeply but never forgotten. His legacy of dedication and strength will remain with us forever. The family will celebrate Creade's life in a private ceremony.
