Clifford “Junie” Caton
79, passed away on December 25, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV surrounded by his loving family. Junie was born on July 23, 1934 in Frostburg, Maryland to Verna Mary McKenzie and Clifford George Caton. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Joan Leake Caton and five children: Clifford Michael “Mike” Caton and his partner, Colleen Peterson; Linda Caton Denton and her partner, Dave Gentry; William “Billy” Caton and his wife, Bridget; Deborah “Debbie” Caton Kyle and her husband, Darren; and Lisa Caton Smith and her husband, Delton. Junie is also survived by four sisters: Mary Ann “Annie” Caton Schartiger of Finzel, Nancy “Curly” Caton Wilhelm of Lonaconing, Emma Jean CatonThorn and Evelyn “Duddy”Caton Short, both of Ohio, as well as all of his grandchildren: Caitlin Denton, George Denton, Brandon “Bo” Kyle, Shania Kyle, Kristen Smith, Wesley Smith, Jessica George, and Donavan Kifer. Three brothers and one sister predeceased him: James “Jum” Caton, Virgil “Buzz” Caton, Thomas “Tommy” Caton, and Sylvia “Sylvie” Caton Hunter. Junie is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bernard Leake, and his wife, Gail.
Junie Caton retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) after more than 30 years of service in the shipping department. In retirement, he found great pleasure in working in his large vegetable garden and tending to many dogs that found their way to his home. His greatest joy, however, was his family and retirement provided much time to spend with his children and grandchildren. A man of great strength, both in physical stature and character, Junie Caton lived a life built on the principles of honesty, hard work and loyalty to family. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.
