Charles William “Cap” Miller, Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his residence.
Born on August 4, 1930, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Louisa Anna (Fisher) Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary M. (Miller) Miller; and sisters, Mary Loar and Betty Winters.
Mr. Miller was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the Frostburg Moose, Farrady Post 24 Frostburg American Legion, and the Big Savage Sportsman’s Club.
Cap was a veteran of WWII and was employed by CSX Railroad and the Mill Room of Kelly Springfield Tire Company.
He loved to travel, attend family picnics and spend time hunting.
Surviving are son, John W. Miller and wife Debra; daughter, Cheryl L. Negley and husband Larry; granddaughter, Stefanie Hay and husband Jeff; grandsons, Matthew Negley, Christopher Negley and wife April and Michael Negley and wife Kelli; great grandchildren, Josiah, Jaidyn and Carson; and his companion of the last eighteen years, Martha Andres.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 4-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11 am, with Rev. Ken Hamilton officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew, Christopher and Michael Negley, Jeff Hay, Marty Miller and Gary Beal.
Interment will follow at Frostburg Memorial Park.
