Carol Stewart

Carol Ann (Filer) Stewart, 79, of Carlos, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at her residence.

Born on February 2, 1945 she was the only child of Samuel J. Filer and Anna Jane (McKenzie) Filer. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Beall High School and attended Catherman's Business School. Carol worked at Prichard's store in Frostburg, the Celenase, and Kelly Springfield before serving the majority of her career at The State of Maryland, Department of Social Services from where she retired in 2007. She was a member of the Carlos Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Michael S. Stewart and wife Lisa and Todd R. Stewart and wife Molly; grandchildren, Anna Kay Stewart, Emilee Jane Stewart and Levi Michael Stewart.

Carol loved growing up and living in Carlos. She often reminisced about her "Mom Mom and Pop's" store in town and always felt lucky to have such kind neighbors. Her joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother. Most of all, she loved her three grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed every second of being their grandma.

Carol was cremated in accordance with her wishes.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM funeral with Rev. Jim Jeffries officiating.

Interment will be private.
