Betty Williams

April 18, 1927 — July 12, 2016

Betty Ann Williams, 89, of Eckhart, MD, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at WMHS Regional Medical Center.

Born on April 18, 1927, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Snyder) Williams.

Betty retired from the dental office of Dr. Daniel Shupe where she served as an office technician and dental assistant.

She was a life member of Eckhart United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the services and lunch with the ladies.  Betty loved her boxer dog Maddox Boy. She was a 50 year member of the McKinley Chapter 12, O.E.S.

Surviving are daughter Becky Ann Barclay, of Frostburg; grandson John Andrew Hamilton, of Frostburg; and her cousins, the Skidmore family.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 11 am with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.  Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Hitchins, Bill Skidmore, Leroy Skidmore, John Hamilton and Brian Skidmore.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Betty’s name be made to Eckhart United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 444, Frostburg, MD 21532 or Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.

The family would like to thank the staff at Western Maryland Health System, 5 West Progressive Care Unit for their excellent care and compassion.

As Betty would say, “It’s not goodbye, it so long.”
