Barbara Kay George, 69, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at UPMC Somerset surrounded by family following complications from pneumonia.
Born on December 22, 1955, in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Olive (Ash) Maust.
Barb grew up in Berlin, PA, and was a 1973 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School.
Following graduation, she worked at S. Schwab & Company in Cumberland and in the Accounting Department at Biederlack of America. She retired from Orbital ATK where she worked as an explosive operator.
Barb enjoyed planting flowers, tending to her vegetable gardens and canning. She was loved by everyone and was a mother to many. She loved animals and her house was home to many dogs and cats over the years. For that reason, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in Barb's name be made to the donor's favorite animal shelter and or the Highland Thrift Shop in Grantsville.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frostburg where she was a member of the vocal and handbell choirs, a youth group advisor and served on the church council.
Barb is survived by her son James C. 'Jamie" and wife Nichole; sisters, Patricia Maust, Gloria Maust and Marsha Webreck; brothers, Gerald and Ellen, Ryan and Brenda, Brian and Barb and Chris and Lisa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Barb's wishes, she was cremated.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, at 5:15 pm where her life will be celebrated with Pastor Mark Molter officiating.
