Barbara Boyle

Barbara A. Boyle , 72, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, Norfolk, VA,

Born September 4, 1941 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Emily R. (Miller) Boyle.

Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Catholic Girls Central, obtained a Bachelor Degree at Notre Dame, MD, a Master Degree in social work at West Virginia University.  She was a teacher for nine years as a School Sister of Notre Dame, worked at the Allegany County Department of Social Services, Allegany County Health Department, State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Systems as the Director of Social Work and Addiction.

She sang with the Cumberland Choral Society and was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Hagerstown, MD, St. Patrick’s Church, Cumberland, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frostburg and Prince of Peace in Chesapeake, VA and served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister in each church.  Barbara resided at Lighthouse Pointe, Chesapeake, VA.

Surviving are brother, Joseph E. Boyle, Hagerstown, MD; sisters, Bernadette L. Simmons and husband Robert, Chesapeake, VA, Rosemary F. Tseng, San Diego, CA, and Ruth A. Goldbloom and husband Donald, Grantsville, MD; nieces and nephews  are Christine Boyle of Springs, PA, Joanne Boyle of Baltimore, MD, Scott Simmons of Chesapeake, VA, Heather Stumbaugh of Wayneboro, PA, Jennifer Tseng Marchewka of Dallas, TX, Michael Tseng and Timothy Tseng of San Diego, CA, and her faithful companion and cat, Sterling.
