Averey Rhyan Bridges, 16, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma from an automobile accident.

Born on May 27, 1999, in Cumberland, she is the daughter of Craig Bridges and Melissa (Lechliter) Bridges. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Carol Jean “Sue” Bridges; maternal grandfathers, Benjamin Lee Houdersheldt and Thomas Lechliter.

Averey was a Junior at Mountain Ridge High School where she excelled in academics, and a member of the National Honor Society.  She also excelled in volleyball and multiple girls softball teams; Frostburg Mountain Thunder, Frederick Heartbreakers, and the Bedford Winning Edge Energy.

Surviving in addition to her parents; the love of her life, Brady Folk; two brothers, Jacob Patrick Bridges and Lukas Alexander Bridges; paternal grandfather, Francis A. Bridges, Mt. Savage and maternal grandmother, Bernadine Plummer and husband Richard, Short Gap; Uncle Ike Lechliter and wife Krista, Short Gap, Haylee and Brady; Aunt Theresa Lechliter, Martinsburg, WV, niece, Shawnee Lechliter, Bozman, MT; extended family, John, Mandy, and Marcus Folk; and Dave, Christine, Kelsey and Hollie Robertson; special friends, Chloe Stewart, Tessa Lutton and Katie Jack.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Mountain Ridge High School gymnasium on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 12:30 pm with Pastor Floyd Bender officiating.

Averey was an organ donor and was cremated in accordance with her wishes. Her cremains will be kept by her family.

The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be directed to the “Averey Bridges Benefit” at any Wepco Federal Credit Union.
