Amanda McDonald

Amanda Mae McDonald, 28, of LaVale, Maryland, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023.

Born on February 20, 1995, to Cindy (Lavin) McDonald and Robert McDonald.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Irvin P. Lavin and paternal grandfather, Norman Lee McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her birth mother, Jessica Baker.

She is survived by her daughter, Lelia Dunner, her parents; maternal grandmother, Sandra (Clark) Lavin; paternal grandmother, Shirley I. McDonald and close friends , Stephanie Vega and Aaron Long.

Amanda received her GED in 2012.

Amanda was a free-spirit and had many job experiences. She loved cooking and had a passion for the culinary arts.

Amanda found joy in self-expression in music and loved to attend the music festivals.

One of her favorite venues was the Sunshine Day Dreams. Her favorite band was the Grateful Dead.

Amanda's love for animals had no limits. She was a true lover of all furry friends.

Amanda's greatest joy and most rewarding accomplishment was the day she gave birth to her daughter, Lelia Scarlett Dunner.

Amanda had a heart of gold and was very loving and giving to anyone in need. Some days Amanda's journey was a difficult one, but she was able to still find joy in life by giving of herself to others.

A special man, Hayden Scofield, came into Amanda's life and touched her heart as she touched his.

As Amanda left this earthly journey, she was greeted by her loyal companion, her dear dog Bailey.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, Maryland on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. There will be a celebration of life for Amanda beginning at 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any pet rescue of animal shelter of your choice.
