William D. Smith
93, of Frostburg, died peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born September 14, 1921 in Pittsburgh, to the late John Thomas Smith and Jean (Strausbert) Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother John R. Smith and a daughter, Beverly Rossetti. He was the last of his immediate family.
Mr. Smith was Methodist by faith and retired as a plumber in Local Union 27 Pittsburgh. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the 28th Infantry Division where he earned five major battle stars in Europe, including the, “Battle of the Bulge”.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Ruth (McLaughlin) Smith, and daughter, Carol J. Smith, Frostburg.
Mr. Smith was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
